The so-called “Hauge play” was presented for the first time in 2001, and since then has been presented every summer. The play presents episodes from Hans Nielsen Hauge’s life, as described in books or taken from local historical traditions. In the course of one and a half hours, the audience experiences Hauge as lay preacher, author, entrepreneur, inventor, and business genius—a man who influenced Norway 200 years ago in so many different ways.
There are ten regular actors, all amateurs, and in addition a crew of ten local people, gathered from the areas where the play is presented.
